Swiss No Show prevention

Dear Lichess,
No Show and Swiss suggestion

Could I suggest that in your excellent Lichess software, that you add code which would require players to click that they will take part in the next round of a tournament?

For example, when it says, "players stand by" could you also ask the player to click that the player wants to be part of the next round?
If the player does not opt in, then the player does not get included in the next round of the Swiss tournament.
Thank you
There should be a time limit within which if the opponent doesn't come then they will lose and the rest two will be merged and play against each other.
i agree, these suggestions could improve the Swiss experience
Something should be done. Lichess implemented a "temporary ban" feature a few months ago, so that players who miss swiss tournament games are penalized by not being allowed to enter swiss tournaments for some period of time (I believe it starts with 24 hours and may increase for subsequent infractions). However, based on the number of afk games I have been getting in the Lichess Swiss tournaments, this penalty is very ineffective. Also, I believe tournament organizers are allowed to "opt out" of this feature and allow banned players to participate in their tournaments.

There could be several layers of "checks" applied. One of the big problems is that players sign up for tournaments but then forget about them. Another is that players play a game or two, then leave without withdrawing. With the current system, those players are still paired up with others resulting in the afk games. So I have suggested that Lichess could simply check to see if players are present when the pairings are being determined. If you're not active, you don't get paired. Also, Lichess can then automatically withdraw those players from the tournament. I _believe_ chess.com does this, though I am not certain. I have encountered far fewer afk players in swiss tournaments on chess.com than here.

I have no problem with the suggestion of requiring players to check a box indicating they are going to play the next game, that would also work.

Unfortunately, I don't think making suggestions in the forum has any impact, as this subject has been brought up numerous times. Github is the place to make serious suggestions. I don't currently have an account there but am thinking about getting one for just this reason.
