IAF Antichess World Championship: News & Survey results

In this blog we will discuss survey results and share the latest news about the 3rd edition of this event.

By @BBLGL & ZendiScar

News

First of all, the IAF Open European Antichess Event will continue under a new name: The IAF Antichess World Championship (IAF AWC for short). This year's event has shown it really takes the best of the best to secure victory in this 2-day event. 30 rounds show that not only your opponent is the challenge to overcome, but yourself as well. And since everybody from around the world is welcome, we might as well dub it the World Championship.

There has been held a survey here in the community and so far 50 people have answered. We regard it more than enough feedback on where we have to improve in the organization of this event. That doesn't mean we still want your opinion! If we may request 5 minutes of your time to fill in this survey. You'd help us out a great deal!

No surprising results as @BBLGL and me used the Lichess Tournament Chat most of the time.
IMPORTANT: However recently Lichess has shown disapproval of our advertising methods. We will lose our chat privileges if we continue sending messages in tour chats. This is, dear reader, where you can help! Spread the word about this event! Tell your friends, tell the community! It is of vital importance to get a higher attendance rate. Ultimately this grants us the possibility to expand! Better organization, better prices, etc.

50 answers, 32 who did not attend the event, 18 who did.

We score an average satisfaction of 8.88. We invite those who rated the event a 7 or 8 to PM @ZendiScar to motivate your answer! We want to learn from you!

Results of Question 4 & 5 have made us decide that the schedule will remain unchanged as the majority is satisfied.

5 out of 13 people were unsatisfied with the lunch options. Feedback has shown we need to provide more healthy options. We will work on this!

Overview:
- 8 out of 41 answers (roughly 20%) say they didn't know this event existed. A remarkable result, as we put a lot of time into spreading the word about this event. We want to lower this number! Take note of our comment at question 1! You can help us the most!
- 2 people commented that a 2 day event is too much. However as we stated earlier we will not change the schedule.
- 1 person commented that he didn't attend as there are no prizes. We are yet to find sponsors to be able to provide large cash prices. We are still small in the world of chess. We also want to state clearly that this event is for bringing the community together and have a great time together. But you never know what the future could bring us.
- 2 people commented that there is a FIDE open in late june which made them unable to attend the event in 2022 and 2023. Something we could take into account for setting the date for next years event.

Overview:
- 8 people say they will be there 100%
- 33 people have agreed to come, but it depends on the date and the rest of their agenda.
- 5 are still in doubt.
- 3 people said no.

I made a bit of a mistake her, as June was added a lot later, and therefore no one has filled in June. Still, holiday months seem to be most preferred.

Further comments by organizers

We had a lot of recommendations and we can confirm a few changes for next year!

- The time control will be 5+8!
- We will try to find a set date for a couple of years, so that people can plan ahead for joining us.
- @ZendiScar can put up reservation for a large accommodation for groups. This will make the weekend way cheaper for everyone. For instance: Amsterdam City centre average hotel will cost you €500 for the weekend. Where as a group stay will cost you little over €100 and grants ultimate 'Gezelligheid'!
