Review: The Perfect Pirc-Modern by Viktor Moskalenko

Great review. Thank you very much! Also thanks for the pointer to Mathew Sadler's excellent blog posts on the Pirc. I am studying the course by Sielecki/Gorny on chessable, but the approach seems to be different from the lines Matthew talks about, because c6 is never played (and Bg7 is delayed in variantions where white moves their dark squared bishop to e3 or f4). a6 is mostly played, instead. But great to see other perspectives as well.
Thanks for this, and that's interesting to know about the Chessable course. I remember 4 Be3 a6, pioneered by Kramnik, seemed a.big discovery when I wrote Chess Developments: The Pirc.
Dear James, thanks for the review. I am reading your book "the Pirc in Black and White" and I was wondering if you advise to still buy Moskalenko's one or not. Why ? Is yours not up to date ? Is there anything in your book that you would change now ?
Thank you.
Sov.
Dear Sov, thanks for this. Yes, I am planning to write more posts on this, though that may take me a while. My first Pirc book was published in 2007 and there have been quite a lot of developments since then (though as I said, not quite as much as I initially assumed). So I would still recommend Moskalenko and I think his book and The Pirc in Black and White should make a useful pair. Best wishes, James
