I've noticed this in the past, but it's the 1st time I'm asking about it.
The score Stockfish give to the position dropped dramatically even though I made the "correct" best move. Why's that?
Here's the game, I'm asking about white's 45th move:
en.lichess.org/k0ZEmtFN/white#88If the score drops when you make the correct move I guess the reason is that after one more move stockfish is able to calculate longer than before and might come to other conclusions.
Not strange at all and probably not a bug.
Stockfish analyses the game from end to beginning. When it analyzed black's 44th move it already had white's 45th move analyzed. How could it be that there's such a difference AND suggest the move that was actually played as the best response?
Also, please look at the local analysis after black's 44th move. The score is +7.1, but the best line's score is +4.3. I played the top suggested move and it scores 3.7. Similar results but this time with 20 move depth.
Sorry, I don't get it.
Maybe it's differences between local bot and game analysis bot then....
